own patterns for Sims 3 (Part 4)

This article is part of a tutorial series that deals with the creation of designs employed for The Sims 3 .

Part 1 A four color patterns create purpose of this article is to create a four-color pattern that can then be imported in a further step into the game.
Step 1 - The submission

For this tutorial I have created themselves a template with Gimp. It is a four color image strips. As a special there with me the green in two color shades. You have to tinker now, first, a simple test in Gimp. Pay attention that you are using only four colors. But you can also install a color or color gradations. All elements of a color should be at the end are in a separate layer. Also, each gradation is in its own layer. Moreover, the image must be 256x256 pixels in size and seamless. If you prefer to use my test model, you'll find it at the materials that you can download it with the PDF version of this tutorial.

The result should look something like this:

Step 2 - grayscale images

The next step is to create our original four-color presentation of four stencils. I did so, first filled the strip of white color 1 and then closed with a black-level one. The same I have with the Streaks of color 3 and 4 color made. For Color 2, I scheduled two color gradations. There, I fill the strip for the lighter color also with white and the darker the shade with a shade of gray (R 178 G 178 B 178). Both strips I unite again with a black level. The four new levels look like this and produce the template for color 1-4:

Step 3 - Inserting images in grayscale channels

Now that we have templates for the pattern , we can edit the channels. Create a new image in the size 256 x 256 pixels. Then select the menu item Colors> Components> Cutting ... . Position as

RGB color mode

a dialer and
to layers apart
.
Now choose the level of red. Now change to gray-scale image with the templates and copy the template for color 1 Then back to the screen with the split channels. These select Paste
. The template will now appear as a floating selection in the Layers window. Click now to anchor in this window
floating selection. The template is now placed in the plane red.
choose for color 2 First you copy the layer of green, then you back the appropriate template and paste it firmly back on a floating selection . The same you repeat again for color 3 There, you must first select the level of blue. for 4 color copying the appropriate template, you first add them again into the picture. This time select the floating selection in the Layers window, select create a new layer . The new level, you can right-click on the layer in the Layers panel and selecting layer properties ...
in
Alpha
rename. Then you move it over the green arrows in the layer window all the way down Alpha level so that level is below blue. The result should look like this in the Layers window:

Select the menu item color> Component> Assemble ... point and then as a color mode

RGBA .

The result should look like this:

step 4 -. File as a DDS file save
now
Select the menu item File> Save As ...
and there the image file format
DDS . In the Save as window DDS take the following settings: Compression on none
,
format on RGBA8 and set a
Harken
at
Generate mipmaps .

from this DDS file can now be created with the Sims 3 workshop of a TSR Sims3Packs file. How will this work in the last part of the tutorial series described.
